Wednesday roundup: week in review

A few of my favorite things I've found around the web this past week:

A Cup of Jo: Pictures from photo essay The Bride Was Beautiful: "Katie Kirkpatrick, 21, held off cancer to celebrate the happiest day of her life. Breathing was difficult now; she had to use oxygen. The pain in her back was so intense it broke through the morphine. Her organs were shutting down but it would not stop her from marrying Nick Godwin, 23, who had been in love with Katie since 11th grade. Five days later, Katie died."

Telegraph: Five previously unseen pictures of Audrey Hepburn-- I can never see enough of this lady...

Oh Leoluca Vintage: Gorgeous sculptural shoes from Omelle. Says OLV, "They remind me of dinosaur skeletons which one wouldn’t think of as a positive attribute, but in this case are some seriously well designed shoes." I couldn't agree more.

Refinery29: A stylish paper bag! This weekender designed by Stefan Diez is made of Tyvek.

Coveiter: Using a centerpiece as a desktop organizer-- I adore this idea! Filed away for the glorious day I have a desk that can fit more than my laptop.

Fabsugar: Sneak peak of Matthew Williamson for H&M's summer collection... I haven't been all that swept up in the MWills fanfare but I appreciate bright colors and good fit just as much as the next person. The summer stuff is pretty but for me lacks the "it" items (i.e. the studded belt, the sequined dress) of the spring duds.

PicVault: "Kyle Cassidy traveled fifteen-thousand miles over a period of two years, photographing Americans in their homes and asking only one question: “Why do you own a gun?”"

Indie Fashion and Beauty: Leggings that look like jeans! Genius! From the eBay store Sophie Locker.

Lamp with wine bottle base

I am just dying over this lamp. The recycled wine bottle base is beyond cool and the green is so calming. $55 from Yours Truly XOXO (via House Beautiful's Amy Claire Preiser's amazing guest curatorship at The Storque)

Reusable coffee sleeves

Aren't these coffee sleeves infinitely more adorable (not to mention eco-friendly) than those stiff cardboard ones you get at Starbucks? $8 each from East Coast Kitsch (via Eco Etsy)

Shop spotlight: Necessity is the Mother

All of these dresses from Necessity is the Mother just look so perfect for a picnic!

This first one is so Charlotte York to me. The Marilyn in School Jumper ($65)

The Tra La La Pinafore ($60)

Book book shelf

This book shelf made with books is beyond amazing in my lit geek mind. This pre-made one is with Dean Koontz books but you can contact the seller with requests. $25 from Old To New. Love this one but part of me is itching to try my hand at making my own...

Leanne Marshall's Etsy creations

This will undoubtedly date me as an Etsy newbie however until the recent post on The Storque calling for new Project Runway contestants, which mentioned Leanne Marshall's Etsy past, I had no idea that the winner had been a prolific Etsy seller. Naturally her shop has long since been empty, but let's take a look back at some of her previous Etsy sales. Make it work!

Shop spotlight: The Steampunk Trunk

The Steampunk Trunk has fun jewelry to add a little edge to an outfit.

Adjustable ring ($45)

Ship wheel timepiece necklace ($90) aka my Jack Sparrow compass

Reversible necklace ($40)

Floppy booky

Yes please! Loving this little notebook made with floppy discs as the front and back covers. $7 from Contexto

Recycled tin mini dress earrings

These earrings are so adorable that I am dangerously close to ramming needles through my closed up ear piercings. Fortunately/unfortunately I am too squeamish but I hope someone else nabs these-- they're too cute to go unworn! $26 a pair from Shixie (via Modish)
